Working together with Community

What is co-design?

The process of co-design brings together people with lived experience and professional experience to have equal participation in creating something new.

One Mob One Job's co-design process brings together Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal staff, families, and communities. We listen to all voices to create services and solutions that matter. This process helps build strong relationships and a shared commitment to our goals.

The steps below can occur in any order, as the co-design process is led by the community. The community shapes our approach.

How is co-design being used in One Mob One Job?

Co-design is being done with community in 5 locations, the first two being South West Sydney and Orange. In each of these locations solutions are being created with community and rolled out across that location for feedback.

Once the solutions are shown to work, we’ll think about whether they can be rolled out across all NSW.

Who is involved?

Community members in the 5 locations who have lived experience or know someone with lived experience in:

-       Child removal from family

-       Social housing needs and applications

-       Homelessness

-       Domestic and family violence services

-       Going to court, prison or youth detention

We need Community knowledge to help improve these areas for families. Whether it is the experiences of a client, a carer, or a supporter, these experiences matter.

Community members are helping us build better, more effective services that truly meet the needs of families. Together, we can make a real difference in the way services are designed and delivered, making them more respectful, effective, and supporting.
